Next Steps

Next Steps:

Getting to Know Each Other

Choosing where to get involved and grow with a local church is a massively important decision. You want to ensure it’s the right place for you and your family and that it aligns with your theological beliefs, as well as missional and organizational philosophies. As such, we at Canvas Christian Church offer a few opportunities that we call “Next Steps,” and they allow you to get to know us, our staff, our ministries, and how we see ourselves uniquely fulfilling Jesus’ command to make disciples.

Beyond covering some of the topics below in more detail, we will follow up with a one-on-one meeting with one of our pastors or elders to answer any additional questions or address any concerns you may have, along with discussing practical next steps for you and your family.

Examine Our Core Beliefs

Canvas is a non-denominational, unaffiliated Christ-centered church, and we affirm many of the core tenets of the conservative Christian faith. We invite you to explore our beliefs and examine our core doctrines.

Capture Our Vision and Understand Our Mission

There are many churches in Cumming, Dawsonville, and North Georgia. However, there is only one Canvas Christian Church, and we have an extraordinary vision for who we are and how we seek to be obedient in making disciples. We are on a mission to help everyone, regardless of background, ethnicity, or age, develop an authentic relationship with God and each other.

Discover Our Culture

At Canvas, personal discipleship is the driving passion for everything we do. We exist to make disciples who love God and each other. A significant part of this is serving, corporate worship, and providing for each other’s tangible needs, which includes tithing. Through each of these elements, we learn personal sacrifice—carrying our cross—and dependence upon God while encouraging and building up each other. We learn humility and acceptance. We celebrate each other’s wins and walk with each other through struggles. In it all, we are a family that pursues God together.

Meet with an Elder

As part of our Next Steps, we want to meet with you and your family on a personal, individual level. We want to hear from you, allow you to ask questions, and share your concerns in a setting that is a bit more intimate than a group dynamic. We hope that in this environment, you will feel less intimidated and more open to discussing some of the hard topics you would otherwise not do in a larger setting. Our elders will also work with you and your family to determine the appropriate next steps, whether exploring the Christian faith, baptism, becoming a member, or serving within the church.

Explore Church Membership

Being an active part of a local church is critical for a believer’s spiritual growth. It creates accountability, provides encouragement and spiritual nourishment, and teaches us how to live out our faith in a community. Relationships matter, and being a follower of Jesus is hard. We desire a place where you can “lock arms” with other believers and do life together while experiencing the love and joy of Jesus Christ.
